Drawing inspiration from discourse in our FilmStudioArts class, this video revolves around the concept of perception, time and digital media. A digital clock is doing what it is supposed to be doing - displaying the time, for one minute. But, watch closely. Is it really just ONE minute? You will not be able to tell, but this is a looped video of a total eight seconds - the amount of time that equals todays average attention span. Usually invisible to the human eye, due to its latency, in digital recording the flickering effect of the electronic lights becomes visible and contribute to a somewhat odd experience that feels just a step out of the ordinary. Also, the portrait 16:9 format evokes the impression of a video typically captured with a mobile device. The act of perception is becoming a toy, you cannot rely on your senses alone. You are being tricked. The infinite loop of time is an illusion.
